VIENNA, Va. -- The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) today announced the election of Douglas R. Wilburne as the 2011 chairman of the NIRI Board of Directors. Wilburne is vice president, investor relations for Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT). He succeeds Brad Wilks, Chicago CEO and managing director of Sard Verbinnen & Co.

Wilburne earned a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1976, where he was a member of Eta Kappa Nu, the electrical engineering honor society, and an M.B.A. in Finance degree from Drexel University where he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the business administration honor society. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a member of the Providence Society of Financial Analysts, and is a member of the NIRI Senior Roundtable.
